We had a very interesting weekend.
On Saturday, 19th July, we had our very first event for PboX which is Cooking Day. Finally, the day has come for the Angels to show off their culinary skills.
Here’s a brief rundown :
10-11am Arrival of Guests
11-12pm Children begin drawing the dishes
12-1pm Presentation of dishes by the cooks
1pm Bon Apetit!
Cook: Amber
Dish: Baked honey sweet potato dessert and also nian gao wrapped in wanton skin.
According to Amber, nian gao is usually prepared during Chinese New Year as a symbol of prosperity.
Cook: Eric
Dish: Deep fried dumplings and spring rolls (it’s prepacked because Eric can’t cook, good effort though)
According to Eric, during Spring festival, dumplings and spring rolls are one of the main dishes prepared for the celebration.
Cook: Nina
Dish: Apple Pie and Pancakes. She also brought some mini Stroopwaffles and licorice from the Netherlands.
According to Nina, apple pie is sweet with a tinge of cinnamon. Whereas, the pancakes are eaten with pancake syrup.
Cook: Rabbit
Dish: Ma Po Tou Fu and Yangzhou fried rice
According to Rabbit, Ma Po Tou Fu originates from Sichuan Province in China. The tou fu is a little spicy and delicious. The fried rice is yummy with mix vegetables, eggs and shrimps which gives it a fragrant smell.
