Story Telling Competition


20th July 2008

As the saying goes “a picture paints a thousand words”. This post won’t be lengthy. Read the main points and let the pictures and videos tell you some indescribable moments.

Date: 20th July, Sunday

Rundown:

1-2pm Arrival of guests

2-3pm Story telling by Contestant No. 1- 6

3-330pm Interval-Games

330-4pm Story telling by contestant No. 7-11

4pm Prize presentation

Hey Hey Hey!

Today we get to see the children present. It’s a challenge of guts and creativity.

You’ll be surprise how these kids perform. Although, it was a bit too much of noise and distraction, all of us who attended had fun.

Special thanks to Issac and Cecilia for being the judges.

Also thanks to Ke Vin, Leon, Wai Hong (Issac’s lil bro) and Ramadan for the moral support.

Cooking Day


19th July 2008

We had a very interesting weekend.

On Saturday, 19th July, we had our very first event for PboX which is Cooking Day. Finally, the day has come for the Angels to show off their culinary skills.

Here’s a brief rundown :

10-11am Arrival of Guests

11-12pm Children begin drawing the dishes

12-1pm Presentation of dishes by the cooks

1pm Bon Apetit!

Cook: Amber

Dish: Baked honey sweet potato dessert and also nian gao wrapped in wanton skin.

According to Amber, nian gao is usually prepared during Chinese New Year as a symbol of prosperity.

Cook: Eric

Dish: Deep fried dumplings and spring rolls (it’s prepacked because Eric can’t cook, good effort though)

According to Eric, during Spring festival, dumplings and spring rolls are one of the main dishes prepared for the celebration.

Cook: Nina

Dish: Apple Pie and Pancakes. She also brought some mini Stroopwaffles and licorice from the Netherlands.

According to Nina, apple pie is sweet with a tinge of cinnamon. Whereas, the pancakes are eaten with pancake syrup.

Cook: Rabbit

Dish: Ma Po Tou Fu and Yangzhou fried rice

According to Rabbit, Ma Po Tou Fu originates from Sichuan Province in China. The tou fu is a little spicy and delicious. The fried rice is yummy with mix vegetables, eggs and shrimps which gives it a fragrant smell.

Karaoke at Neway


2nd July 2008

Today Eu Gin took us to the karaoke. Much alike the ones in Taiwan, and there are even many popular songs that are sung by Taiwan singers. I found something interesting about the cultural differences. As for Nina, since she’s a Dutch girl, in her country there are many karaoke bars. Many people were drunk and they will sing on the stage. That is to say, they will sing before many strangers. Compared with European, Asia people prefer to sing in one small room with friends.

Haircut service by Wella Professionals


17th July 2008

Six Wella Professionals' representatives come by Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Cacat Taman Megah to perform haircut services for the children.

Visit Children at PPKKCTM


1st July 2008

The EPs were brought to visit 20 primary school children that they will be taking care of.

We had general introduction before everyone was breaking into groups to get closer to their 'teachers'.

This is Amber and her kids. She will be taking care of children in Standard 1 & 2 for the first week.
